October 11, 1948 - October 13, 2009

As a couple of you know, I lost mom last week to a heart attack, She faught very hard to stay with us. It's been very hard as my family and I get through this. She was an amazing woman, My mom, Just over a year ago found out she had stage 4 Lung Cancer, they gave her no hope for survival, But My Mom, a fighter, beat the cancer, they were now measuring the tumor in millimeters and the cancer that had spread everywhere through out her body was all but gone.

This picture of her, was taken just after she learned of her cancer, when the whole family visited Thanksgiving 2008 . She had always wanted HOT PINK hair, So we had a party and after she modeled and posed for the grand kids.
The girls, Tosha and Briana, showed her how to pose and the boys Tj and Tyler told her she was "HOT" as pictures were taken, she laughed and had the best time that day.

She later, wrote these words..

When I am an old woman,

I will wear a hat with satin pansies,

I will pick flowers from other peoples gardens

So, you, My Friends are not surprised with my fushia colored hair.

My mom, she raised finch birds and was on the board of the San Diego Finch Society for many years and made many friends there. She loved her birds.

I miss her so much!! I know she is with me now, hugging me. Last year my sister and i got another matching tattoo with her initials... CALM on our backs, she has and will forever have our back!!

Mother Nature its March 11, 2009

I do live in Minnesota, but still, This much snow... 12 inches in 2 days?

My Hubby, Tim standing it the side walk upto our house. It's about 32-36 inches deep, where he stands!! On the side of the house, the snow was so deep, my youngest son Tyler, 17. had to go out the back yard, over the fence, to shovel a path to the side door, It was over 2 feet and we couldnt get the door open. Schools, stores, highways and roads were closed yesterday during the storm and today as we all dig out!! The storm left 12 inches over the 2 days on us, winds gusts over 40mph, and freezing temps make it another Minnesota Winter day.

While stranded inside, I did get a few done. I got a new pattern from Oodlekadoodle Primitives her Bowl Tuck Cats. Here's what I have done with them.

First theres "Got Milk Kitty"

I also got got a couple Bunny Dolls done.

Making Lemonade out of Lemons Award

I was givin an award today, That really touched my heart!! The Make Lemonade Award from My dear New Blogger Friend Liz at Craft From my Heart. She's a Wonderful painter, and I admire that, It's not easy!! You have to have a talent, and she does!

Wow!! It's been awhile since I've posted!!

In October my mom was diagnosed with cancer. It was a big shock to all of us.. She just celebrated her 60th birthday. By the end of October, she was told it was stage 4 Lung Cancer, and it had spread to her lymph nodes, aspogus, ribs and bones. She started an aggressive treatment of chemo.
I just returned home 2 weeks ago, from spending 7 weeks with her, and my Dad. Thursday she called after her latest Doctors appointment with great news!! The tumor in her lung and asphogus have shrunk. She is NOT in remission, But this means they will continue the treatment, giving her more time. She has 2 more sessions, of the current treatment, and then in March start another set.

Thank you all for all your prayers, I believe God has listened, and given my Mom more time!!

After my moms first chemo, It was very evident that she was loosing her hair, Mom has always said when she gets old, she will have red hair :) So, We colored her hair :) Her grand kids thought she was one Hot Grandma :)

I recentely just purchased some Walnut brown Leicester Wool Hair, From The Flying Ewe on Etsy!! Wow, I gotta tell ya, It is great stuff!!! I so love the feel and texture!! The Colors are awesome with Brown hues, and Black curlly tips!! I LOVED IT SO MUCH..... I had to buy MORE!!!

Elba, here, Isn't up for sale yet. I haven't decided if I'll sell yet!! She Is also a 25 inch Doll, with the same Leicester wool hair. She wears a Old Very Prim Dress I made out of an old Linen shirt. She is named after a place I used to live as a teenager in Elba, Idaho. Her Eyebrows,nose and mouth have been hand needle sculpted. I just adore her!!!

The Flying Ewe has become one of my favorite places, For Wool!! She has the best selection of colors and her prices are unbelievable!!! I have got the walnut brown leicester, the creamy navaho churro, and the Silver and White Mohair, And just recentely this creamy white Leicester for my santas this year!! Crazy Days

My Day Trip

I haven't been keeping up with my blog lately, and today, won't be much different different. I took a lil Day trip yesterday. Out in the middle of no where, here in Minnesota. Our 4th of July, has been very meaningful this year! My Sister-In-Law's Mother Nanita, Got here Citizenship in June. She is from Manilla, Philippines . She's lived here for about 6 years, So this has been so exciting :) The ceremony was in Pelican Rapids, Where the town was celebrating there "International Friendship Festival". At the Historical City Hall and City Park. The whole Naturalization Ceremony was out doors, It was a beautiful day! The Boy Scouts were there presenting the US Flag. A family of 7 children played The Star Spangled Banner and America, Amazingly. Mayor Wayne Runningen whom welcomed everyone to the town, And Federal Judge John Tunheim whom swore in all the Applicants. The American Legion passed out small flags, and the county princesses were also there with Ice Cream, Cake and lemon aide. The Bridge over the Pelican River was lined with all the different Countries Flags. Toward the end was the Philippines Flag. Federal Judge John Tunheim Gave her, her citizenship papers.

We spent the 4th of July, With Family. My mother-In-Law, served in the Army reserves for 25 years, retiring as a Lieutenant Carnal. Serving in several over sees missions. So, Our family is very Patriotic!!

We had a very traditional celebration. Bar-B-Que, Baseball and apple pie :)

I delivered my 7 layer salad, Which is always a family get together must!! It's not a big deal!! Just the perfect salad.

1 head lettuce, Break up in bite size pieces, into a 10 X 13 pan.
1 large cucumber, Slice, and layer over lettuce

Mayonaise, Put Mayo in a baggie, cut a small hole in the corner and squeeze out a layer over the cucumbers.

Shredded Mild Cheddar Cheese, Sprinkle over entire pan.

Frozen Seewt Peas, Add about 1/2 a bag over the top of cheese

Bac-O's Bacon Bits, I use about 1/2 the jar.

Purple Onion, Slice in bigger pieces, as seen. So Those who dont love these, can take them off :)
This is a great Easy Summer Salad. Best when Fresh!! Enjoy :)

Gabrielle, My Niece, She's 7 years old lost another tooth, This makes 4.

Just as I said to her " Let me take that tooth out" She nodded saying "Noooooo, And the tooth landed on her tounge. heheh Silly girl was favoing it forever :) It didnt even bleed!! hehe Was just hanging there.

We Ended the day, Taking Her to the MSUM Football field For Fireworks, It was a great display, We Were full of OOOOOO's and AWWW's.

It was a great day!! And a beautiful night that ended at 11: 30 and a tired little girl!!!

Jumping into July

Again, Time gets away from me!! But, It's just a number on the calendar right? Life is too short, to worry about time!! It's about living, and enjoying your time!!

I love my life, I'm so lucky to have such a great family, who supports me and my love for my work!!
Today, I took apart an old Montgomery Wards Metal bed frame with 88, 6 and 8 inch Springs :) That's been sitting on the side of my garage rusting :) There perfect now and I've taken a few here and there, But today I finished up an order for 20 Believe Stars on Rusty Springs :) *Thanks Sue :) They're on there way to your house!! They are Great!! And I'm sure your gonna Love them!!

I've been on a Halloween kick!! As a crafter, you have to be a holiday ahead!! Halloween has to be my favorite!! I think I've done a bit of everything. Witches, Bats, Pumpkins and Black Cats :) Witch's Shoes and Hats.

So, With a few Springs sitting around I made a couple new things :)

The Flower Girl is The Bride

Amanda was 6 years old, when she was the Florwe girl at my wedding October 22, 1988. It was the first time I met her, She was Tim's cousins daughter. I just adored her, She followed me every where!! When I was younger, I always wanted a little girl, and had her named when I was in High School. I would name her Amanda. Then later, a little girl, who was going to be the flower Girl in my wedding was named Amanda.

Over the years, The miles were far, And we never really got to know each other! Wed see each other a couple times a family get togethers, And I always set her ya know a yearly Christmas Card.

So, When we got the invetation to her wedding I was so excited the Flower girl, is The Bride.

I made her some special gifts, One Being a Lil Altered book, With the Picture of her and I, 20 years ago!

My Friends and I over at the Old Primitive Sisters Group, on Ebay, Were Challanged to make a Ugly Doll. We had 15 days to come up with an UgLY... It was my first time joining in on a challenge. It was so much fun, getting ready for this, And the antisipation of seeing what everyone would come up with, Was exciting!! She Is A Beauty!! I Stuffed her full, painted her Black, Hand Stitched her Nose and Mouth and Sanded her up good and rough. Her eyes are Onsberg fabric, Stitched with Black DMC in place.
She, Her Dress, Apron and her Miss Ugly Banner have been Baked Dark in a prim mixture of Coffee, Vanilla and Cinnamon. Her hair is made up with a fabulous black, Very hairy Mohair yarn.

Besides the after school Pizzas the kids make Or the yummy, gooey Brownies last week.. My oven is usually bakin up prims :) Doll Bodies, Clothes, Stiteries, and all kinds of Bowl Fillers :) Not the kind of bowl fillers you'd eat, But the fun bowl of things you use for your center piece!!
Today, I baked up Dammit dolls for Becky. 8 of them!!

Poor gals, I drown them in my Prim Stain mix of STRONG Coffee, Sprinkle in some Cinnamon and add Vanilla for purfume, Then torture them in a warm oven!! Dressed them, In Dirty, Scorched clothes, And poke them with a rusty Safety Pin with a tag attached that reads:
"When things aren't going as well as you wish, and you just want to scream and shout; here's a dammit doll you just can't live without! Simply grab it by the legs, find a place to slam it; and as you beat the livin' stuffin' out of it, Yell:
DAMMIT DAMMIT DAMMIT!"
Tommorow? Maybe I'll bake somethin' we can eat!!

I thought I'd start the blogging thing, Why not? So many people I know do. I've recently been hearing the quote "One Door Closes, Another Door Opens".

I just joined The Old Primitive Sisters Market Place. It is a group of some of the greatest Primitive Artist.

With all the huge changes with fees and policies on Ebay. I've been looking for different ways to sell my items. And So I, with many other small crafters, are looking for the open door. And the Sisters there are some of the greatest!! Thank ya Leslie, for the Tip!! And Bebe for All the work you put into shop and everyone for the great big welcome!! I'm excited to be a part of such Talent.

I live in Minnesota with My Three Boys! My Dear Hubby Tim and my Awesome Kiddo's TJay and Tyler. They are all grown up now, TJay just turned 20 and Tyler is 16. I've been so lucky to have spent my life being at home with them.

Being an at home Mom, I've always been craftin!! I don't think there was ever a Christmas where Friends and Family didn't get something hand made from me.
I started selling in a Crafter's Mall in 1999. I even worked there part time until they sadly closed in 2007. :(

I started selling on eBay in 2007. Selling my Wood Signs. I do all my own Cutting and Painting. And take great pride in my work.
